Kootu curry

    Grind coconut ( 3/4 cup) by adding a pinch of cumin and keep aside.

    Cook Black chickpeas, Yam and Raw Plantain in a cooker with sufficient water, say about 1.5- 2 cups (vegetables should be immersed in water.) add turmeric powder and salt to it.

    Once it is done, add the ground coconut to the mix and keep boiling. add Jaggery to this mix.

    Heat oil in a pan splutter mustard and add red chilly . Then fry 1/4 cup of coconut in the same oil. then mix it with our mix.

  1. Black chickpeas (kadala) - 1 cup, soaked overnight
  2. Yam (chena) - 1 cup, diced
  3. Raw Plantain (pacha kaya) - 1 cup, diced
  4. Grated coconut - 1cup
  5. jaggery (Sharkara) - 1 piece
  6. Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  7. Dry red chilli - 2
  8. Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  9. Water - 1.5 cup
  10. coconut oil - 1tbsp
  11. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  12. Cumin - a pinch
  13. salt to taste
